This limited-edition release is a special barrel-aged expression of our 2014 fortified dessert wine. Before the original vintage was bottled, four barrels were set aside and aged for several additional years to create this concentrated and elegant tawny-style wine.

Deep garnet in color, it offers layered aromas of dried raspberries, cherries, dark chocolate, vanilla, and orange peel. The palate is rich and complex, with beautifully integrated berry and cocoa flavors, soft texture, and a lingering, satisfyingly sweet finish.

Crafted from 57% Touriga Nacional, 29% Souzao, 9% Tinto Cão, and 5% Tinta Roriz.

Back in 2007, Brian Carter partnered with the Newhouse family to plant traditional Portuguese grape varieties on Snipes Mountain in Washington’s Yakima Valley. The goal: to craft a truly exceptional fortified dessert wine. Touriga Nacional, Souzao, Tinto Cão, and Tinto Roriz form the heart of this deeply expressive blend.

The 2016 Opulento pours an impenetrable garnet hue, with rich aromas of raspberry, cherry, and chocolate accented by almond and orange peel. On the palate, opulent flavors of dark berries and cocoa unfold into a sweet, silky finish with perfect balance.

This edition of Opulento brings a new twist to our fortified dessert wine tradition, aged in Bourbon whiskey barrels for added depth and character. Deep garnet in color, it opens with bold aromas of raspberry, cherry, and dark chocolate, layered with warm notes of apple, caramel, and toasted spice from the barrel.

On the palate, opulent flavors of chocolate, berry fruit, and cinnamon unfold with richness and warmth, finishing sweet, smooth, and perfectly balanced. Made from 50% Touriga Nacional, 19% Tinta Roriz, 17% Souzao, and 14% Tinto Cão.
